Wade Robinson Devon paedophile leaped from a window in an attempt to evade law enforcement. Wade Robinson was apprehended by authorities in a garden following an attempted escape.
A 31-year-old has been sentenced to eight and a half years in prison for the rape of a young girl and for collecting hundreds of photographs depicting child sexual abuse. Wade Robinson, who is homeless but has connections to Tiverton and Exeter, is required to serve an additional three and a half years on license due to the threat he presents to children.
Exeter Crown Court was informed that an investigation was initiated into Wade Robinson after investigators connected him to an online account from which a child abuse image was uploaded to a website. Officers executed a warrant at a location in Exeter in 2022.
Wade Robinson escaped the premises by leaping through the garden window and discarding his phone over an adjacent fence in an effort to dispose of it. Officers successfully apprehended him in the garden and were informed by the neighbour that Wade Robinson’s phone was located on their grass.
He was apprehended and interrogated, during which he declined to provide the officers with the PIN for his phone; nevertheless, the digital forensics team successfully accessed the device. Officers uncovered almost a thousand photos of child sexual exploitation, including Category A material, which is of the most severe sort.
Subsequent to Wade Robinson’s arrest, a victim emerged and revealed that she had been subjected to abuse by Robinson, offering her testimony. Numerous photographs discovered on Wade Robinson’s phone were analysed and identified as depicting the victim, who was a minor.
After professional analysis, detectives managed to provide evidential material to the Crown Prosecution Service and secured eight charges against Wade Robinson. He admitted five charges of possession of online child abuse and three counts relating to the sexual assault of a child.
Detectives from Devon and Cornwall Police managed to build such a strong case against Robinson that he had little option other than to plead guilty to the offences. This guilty plea also spared the victim from having to go through the court process.
Wade Robinson, who refused to come out of his cell to hear his fate, will also be on the Sex Offenders Register for life and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
On sentencing Judge Adkin commented: “He has refused to engage with the court and is not on the video link and is clearly an individual who doesn’t have the courage to face up to the fact he has committed these incidents of utter depravity.”
He added that Wade Robinson not only enjoyed watching images of children being abused but was prepared to put his sick urges into practice. “The defendant is a high risk of serious harm to children of all ages by grooming and exploitation,” he said.
After the sentence police provided a comment. Detective Constable Alex Powe said: “Viewing child abuse material and engaging in criminal activity such as this is inexcusable, and we will work tirelessly to pursue and apprehend such offenders.
“This investigation showcases the importance of building a strong case through tenacious work providing as much evidence as possible leaving the offender little alternative other than to plead guilty.
“I am incredibly proud of the team and extremely proud of the courage of the victim in speaking out. She has been supported by her family and specially trained officers throughout and I do not underestimate the impact this has had on her.”
