Wesley Bishop GMP Officer Sex Offender

A former Greater Manchester Police officer sex offender, Wesley Bishop, has been included in the College of Policing Barred List for communicating with a sex worker while on duty.

An Expedited Misconduct The hearing today (2 March 2022) determined that Wesley Bishop’s conduct constituted gross misconduct.

The hearing at Force HQ was presided over by Chief Constable Stephen Watson, who stated that Wesley Bishop’s conduct violated the professional behaviour standards anticipated of a police officer.

The hearing revealed that Wesley Bishop, a police constable in GMP’s City of Manchester department, contacted the female sex worker to enquire about rates and available services.

CC Watson stated that although he acknowledged Wesley Bishop did not want to seek a sexual relationship, his conduct was ‘brazen’ and ‘reckless.’

CC Watson stated: “Had Mr. Wesley Bishop not already resigned, he would have been terminated without notice.”

The public has been inadequately served; he ought to have dedicated his time to fulfilling the responsibilities anticipated by the public.

Wesley Bishop ought to have recognised that sex workers are susceptible and frequently exploited, and his acts were executed with full awareness of the potential repercussions.

“It constituted a notable departure from the conduct anticipated of a respectable officer.”

Wesley Bishop, suspended in June 2021 on full pay, had resigned and did not attend the hearing
