A ‘repugnant’ British Leeds paedophile, Yusuf Kayat, who manipulated a 10-year-old girl into performing sexual acts on his associates has had his sentence modified.

Yusuf Kayat, 54, was sentenced to 20 years in February after being convicted of a disturbing array of 17 offences at Leeds Crown Court.

The court was informed that from 1989 to 1992, Yusuf Kayat, referred to by the victim as ‘Kosh’, perpetrated abuse against the girl in vehicles and abandoned structures in the Dewsbury and Mirfield regions.

The exploitation commenced with grooming, as he transported her in his vehicle, presented her with gifts, and supplied her with booze, cigarettes, and cannabis.

Subsequently, Yusuf Kayat engaged in sexual intercourse with her and coerced the girl into performing sexual acts on his acquaintances, occasionally involving numerous men, in exchange for takeaway meals.

In her victim impact statement, the victim, now an adult woman, expressed that she has endured persistent fear and anxiety, along with flashbacks and panic attacks.

She stated that the offences perpetrated against her have been significant and catastrophic.

The Solicitor General has intervened, resulting in the Court of Appeal extending Yusuf Kayat’s sentence under the Unduly Lenient Sentence system.

On May 7, Yusuf Kayat’s sentence was annulled and replaced with a 24-year term.
