Zaine Reid Brighton Rapist
Zaine Reid Brighton Rapist

Rapist Zaine Reid, a guy from Brighton, has been found guilty of raping, abusing, and exerting control over a lady for several months in 2024.

In September of the previous year, a lady in her late teens reported enduring persistent aggression and controlling behaviour from Reid since February of that year.

Zaine Reid, 20, of no permanent residence, dictated her interactions with friends and relatives, surveilled her via cameras in his absence, and threatened self-harm if she attempted to sever ties with him.

The victim reported being raped by Zaine Reid and was strangled to the extent that she feared for her life.

Upon the victim severing communication with Zaine Reid, he accessed and destroyed all of her social media accounts.

Officers assisted the victim and implemented safeguarding measures while Reid was apprehended and charged with rape, intentional strangulation, coercive and controlling behaviour, and causing actual bodily harm.

While in imprisonment awaiting trial, he phoned the victim again from prison and sought to coerce her into withdrawing her support for the inquiry.

He faced further charges for witness intimidation.

At Brighton Crown Court on Tuesday, 18 March, Zaine Reid was convicted of all charges and remanded in custody for sentencing at the same court on 16 May.

Detective Constable Ryan Dale said: “Zaine Reid underestimated the bravery of the victim in this investigation, who resisted his threats to make sure he faced justice for his appalling crimes.

“Thanks to her, he is now behind bars where he can pose no further risk to her or other members of the public.

“She will continue to receive the full support of our specialist officers and our partners, as we look ahead to sentencing.”
