Zak Reeve, a Peterborough paedophile, was discovered in possession of hundreds of indecent photographs of children on his mobile phone incidentally after being apprehended for an unrelated crime.

Zak Reeve, 21, was apprehended concerning an arson incident in February of this year, for which no subsequent action was pursued.

While in jail, officers downloaded data from Zak Reeve’s phone. They discovered hundreds of obscene photographs and videos of children, more than 100 of which were classified as the most severe category A.

A further search of Zak Reeve’s home uncovered more images on a laptop and a second mobile phone.

He was sentenced to one year and 10 months in prison at Peterborough Crown Court on Thursday (19 September 2024). He was also handed a sexual harm prevention order for ten years.

Detective Constable Zip Lloyd, who investigated, said: “I’m glad we were alerted to Zak Reeve’s offending, and we’ve been able to secure justice today.

“Our specialist officers work tirelessly to monitor sex offenders and make sure they stick to the conditions of their orders. The orders aim to keep victims and vulnerable people safe, and we won’t hesitate to put offenders before the courts if breaches are found.”
