A serving officer of the Metropolitan Police, Archit Sharma the Sex Offender, has been incarcerated for sexually assaulting a co-worker in 2020.

Archit Sharma, 26, was sentenced to 16 months of imprisonment at the Wood Green Crown Court today (9 June 2023) for sexually assaulting a female colleague while on duty in December 2020.

On 4 December 2020, while employed at the North Area Basic Command Unit in Enfield, Archit Sharma sexually attacked a female officer during their job at the Southgate Police Station.

The Metropolitan Police received the claim, resulting in Archit Sharma’s suspension from duty on full pay. He was indicted for sexual assault on 28 July 2021.

Usha Shergill, Crown Advocate for CPS London’s Complex Casework Unit, stated: “As a police officer, Archit Sharma was obligated to uphold the highest standards of behaviour and professional conduct in both the workplace and public.”

The incident has induced significant anxiety and fear in the victim. I extend my gratitude to the victim for courageously reporting the incident and assisting us in delivering justice to Sharma.

The Crown Prosecution Service will promptly prosecute serious sexual offences when sufficient evidence is available, ensuring that offenders are held accountable.
