A Newcastle Paedophile, Barry Brennan, convicted of raping a child has received a sentence exceeding 13 years in prison, with law enforcement today urging other victims of sexual abuse to come forward confidentially.
In 2021, the victim’s family informed Northumbria Police that she had been raped by Barry Brennan several years before, prompting investigators to initiate a comprehensive inquiry into the allegation.
Barry Brennan, 39, was apprehended shortly thereafter and refuted all accusations during the interview.
He faced three charges of child rape and underwent trial at Newcastle Crown Court in November of the previous year.
On the second day of his trial, Barry Brennan entered a guilty plea to two charges of rape, while the third count was permitted to remain on file.
Barry Brennan, residing on Shields Road in the Byker district of Newcastle, returned to the same court on Friday, February 9, where he received a sentence of 13 and a half years in jail.
Barry Brennan was subjected to a restraining order and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and he will remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
Detective Constable Lisa Herron of Northumbria Police spearheaded the investigation into Barry Brennan.
Subsequent to his sentencing, she stated: “Primarily, I wish to express gratitude to the victim in this matter.” Their family has demonstrated remarkable courage in reporting the cruelty inflicted by Brennan, and it is due to their actions that he is commencing a protracted jail sentence.
“This outcome could not have been attained without the victim’s resilience and resolve.”
Barry Brennan is an exceedingly perilous guy, and it is only that he is presently incarcerated for an extended duration.
Detective Constable Herron stated: “We wish to remind all victims of sexual abuse that it is never too late to report incidents to law enforcement, regardless of the elapsed time.”
“If you have endured in silence, now is the moment to articulate your concerns.”
“Your voice will be heard, and we are here to assist.”
