Christopher Filbrandt - Hereford rapist

Following Hereford’s Cathedral Close’s cordoning off, Christopher Filbrandt, a HEREFORD rapist has been charged with rape.

Christopher Filbrandt, 31, of Eign Mill Road in Hereford, has been charged with rape, according to West Mercia Police.

The accusation pertains to an incident on Friday, July 12, 2024, on the grounds of Hereford Cathedral.

He has been remanded in jail to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court today, July 15.

Early Friday morning, police were summoned to Hereford’s Cathedral Close following a complaint alleging a lady had been raped on cathedral grounds at approximately three in the morning.

Police personnel were observed in the area as the Cathedral Close was closed off at all doors on Friday morning.

At the time, Detective Inspector Ben Pearson said he recognised the incident would create “significant concern”, but that officers were looking at things holistically.

He stated that as investigations were conducted, police would be more visible near the cathedral and that specifically qualified personnel support the victim.

Later, police posted a CCTV picture of a guy they wanted to interview in connection with the report captured at a Hereford nightspot, which was quickly identified.

Later on July 12, a police spokesman verified that while investigations were still underway, a 31-year-old man was apprehended and in jail.
