Damon Tingay sex offender of the dead Grimsby

A “depraved” man, Damon Tingay Grimsby Necrophiliac, who entered a mortuary before engaging in sexual activity on two remains has been sentenced to ten years in prison with a six-year extended licence. He has also come under the label of a dangerous offender. Additionally, subject to a sexual harm prevention order for an unlimited period and sex offender notification is he.

Monday, April 22, Damon Tingay, 30, of Grimsby, showed up before Grimsby Crown Court pleading guilty to trespass with purpose to commit a sexual crime and sexual penetration of a body.

At 4.30 a.m., on Sunday, March 17, we got a telephone stating that a man had entered Diana Princess of Wales Hospital’s mortuary.

After being taken under hospital security, Damon Tingay was arrested at the spot under suspicion of burglary after police were sent.

Officers searched the institution after Damon Tingay’s detention and found that numerous dead in the mortuary had been moved.

Later, CCTV footage showed Damon Tingay engaging in sexual actions on two of the dead; he was detained on suspicion of sexual offences.

“This is a particularly disturbing case, and I cannot begin to grasp the impact that this incident will have had on the deceased’s family and friends within the mortuary, staff members who responded to the incident, and the larger local community,” Senior Investigating Officer DCI Nicole Elliott said.

“I hope Damon Tingay’s sentence today provides comfort, knowing he has been held responsible for his horrible acts.

“Following these inquiries, Damon Tingay was questioned by police and unable to explain his conduct while under our custody.

“The situation of this case and the kind of the offending are fortunately rare, and the degree of depravity is exceptional. Understanding this, the sentencing Judge called Damon Tingay’s actions evil, perverse, and repulsive.

“Our priorities throughout this inquiry have always been to ensure the departed were treated with decency and respect in line with family wishes and that those impacted got the necessary support.

“I want to thank family members who were already in mourning for a loved one for their trust and support during the police investigation; this occurrence has had a significant impact on them.

“I also want to thank the local partners and police personnel who responded to this unique set of events. Specifically, the investigative agents who examined several hours of sensitive CCTV to get perfect clarity on what happened secured evidence that undoubtedly contributed to placing Tingay behind bars for his horrific deeds.

“I am reassured that Damon Tingay is facing considerable time behind bars and cannot further damage our communities.”
