The Glasgow Rapist, Dane Thompson, an individual who committed sexual assault was apprehended following the recording of a phone conversation that documented the precise moment of the attack on the victim.

In February 2023, Dane Thompson engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with the victim at a residence in Scotstoun, Glasgow.

The woman, who was deeply affected by the traumatic experience, courageously attempted to repel the 35-year-old individual and inflicted scratches on him.

The jurors were informed that the phone was located beneath a pillow at the time of the assault.

A phone call was made to one of the woman’s acquaintances.

During his concluding statement, prosecutor Mark Mohammed KC asserted: “She was a witness to the occurrence.”

“There had been a missed call, and (the friend) phoned back.

“She was connected and heard (the victim) say: ‘Get off me’.”

Mr. Mohammed affirmed that this corroborated the woman’s testimony of being sexually abused.

Despite Dane Thompson’s denial of the crime, he was ultimately found guilty after the trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

Dane Thompson was additionally guilty of a crime involving aggressive actions towards her.

The jurors determined that a distinct rape allegation concerning the same woman was not substantiated.

Following the judgements, Mr Mohammed stated that Dane Thompson had a prior conviction for drug-related offences.

Lord Colbeck postponed the sentencing for reports until the following month.

The judge told Dane Thompson: “The seriousness of the charge of rape will not be lost on you.

“You will be remanded in custody meantime.”

Dane Thompson was also put on the sex offenders list.
