David Tilley, the Stanford in the Vale Paedophile, has been incarcerated following a Thames Valley Police investigation that resulted in his conviction for multiple charges of indecent assault and one crime of indecency with a minor in Abingdon.
David Tilley, 77, of Van Diemans, Stanford in the Vale, was convicted of 11 counts of indecent assault and one crime of indecency with a child after an eight-day trial at Oxford Crown Court, which ended on 25 July.
David Tilley was sentenced to eight years in prison upon returning to the same court on Friday, September 20.
During the 1970s and 1980s, David Tilley perpetrated sexual assaults on four girls on several occasions.
After the offences were reported in April 2022, officers interviewed David Tilley twice and consistently denied the allegations.
David Tilley was charged with the offences on 4 October 2022.
David Tilley continued to claim his innocence in court, but a jury unanimously found him guilty of all counts.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Chloe Thompson of Abingdon CID said: “I am pleased that David Tilley has finally been brought to justice for the many years of offending he conducted against young girls in the 1970s and 1980s.
“He has never shown any remorse and even attempted to victim blame during the trial.
“I am pleased that the jury saw through all of his lies.
“I cannot commend the bravery of David Tilley’s victims enough for coming forward and speaking out about what happened to them.
“Our fight against child sexual abuse will never stop, and no matter what the passage of time, I hope that this conviction and sentence highlights not only our commitment in tackling these crimes, but also our commitment in protecting all children and tracking down anyone who seeks to harm them.”
