Using a classified advertising website, George Tandarescu, 36, and Andreea Vasile, 34, promoted the sexual services of many vulnerable women. Customers would visit the women in their twenties and thirties at several brothels scattered around the West Midlands.
George Tandarescu recruited the women to the West Midlands region specifically for sex work. Following the inquiry, we connected George Tandarescu’s and Andreea Vasile’s bank accounts to the advertisements website, with Tandarescu spending more than £10,000 on advertising the women’s services.
Furthermore, connected to George Tandarescu & Andreea Vasile and their house address on Kimberley Road are phones used in advertising the women.
A lot of cash was recovered, and we also discovered proof of money laundering during a warrant search at their house.
The pair’s exploitation ran for around three years, starting in 2020. Andreea Vasile was imprisoned for four years at Birmingham Crown Court on August 13; George Tandarescu was detained for five years.
“The women’s sex work was under complete control of George Tandarescu & Andreea Vasile,” Detective Constable Beasley of our Force Priorities Team said.
“They were routinely transferred to several brothels where the women were expected to spend long hours daily in the sex business.
“We have battled tirelessly to bring George Tandarescu & Andreea Vasile to justice and end the horrible cycle the women were caught in.”
