A Royal Navy submariner, Jack Seviour, who assaulted a colleague at Faslane while on bail for a prior sexual offence, has been incarcerated.

Jack Seviour, 25, targeted the woman at the lodging facility at the military installation in Helensburgh on March 23, 2023.

Jack Seviour put his hand beneath the upper portion of her attire and fondled her.

He thereafter attempted to insert his hand inside her lower garments, causing the victim to “freeze.”

Jack Seviour perpetrated sexual assaults against two further women from January 2022 to February 2023.

He allegedly recorded one of the assaults on his mobile device and subsequently characterised his acts as ‘rapey’.

Jack Seviour continued his employment with the Royal Navy despite being released on bail for a prior attack before perpetrating another at Faslane.

Jack Seviour was convicted at Glasgow Sheriff Court on three counts of sexual assault.

The court heard that Jack Seviour, of Plymouth, Devon, had been a weapons engineer submariner for five years.

Jack Seviour and his colleague who was an engineer at Faslane were at an afterparty in the building where he stayed on site.

Jack Seviour joined her on the couch, put his right arm around her back and his hand on her outer thigh.

Prosecutor Lauren Aitchison said: “Jack Seviour decided to place his hand under her t-shirt.”

He went on to grope the woman who stated that it “hurt for a couple of seconds.”

Ms Aitchison said: “He then moved his hand back down her side and he attempted to put his hand down the waistband of her trousers. She was frozen during this.”

The woman initially fled to the toilet but went back and sat on the couch before she was joined again by Jack Seviour.

Jack Seviour asked her to lean forward – which she believed was so he could get a drink – however, he went on to grope her for “a couple of seconds.”

A friend, who saw the woman the next day, described her as “sobbing” when she recounted what had happened to her.

The trial was told of an earlier incident when Jack Seviour met a woman from dating app Tinder at her student accommodation in Glasgow’s Townhead.

The pair had sex but Jack Seviour carried out sex acts which she did not consent to.

Jurors heard how Jack Seviour slapped her face three or four times and she told him no.

He then punched and spat on the woman’s face.

Ms Aitchison added: “The woman told you how she believed that he may have been recording her on his mobile and she asked him to put it down and stop.

“She had enough of telling him no and to stop so she told him to get out.”

The woman – who was shocked – received a message the following day from Jack Seviour asking for “round two.”

Ms Aitchison said: “She told him no and reminded him what he had done to her and his response was ‘that is rapey behaviour’.

“He offered to buy her flowers and coffee.”

A third woman told the court that she had also met Jack Seviour on Tinder and went to her student accommodation also in Townhead.

She claimed that Jack Seviour spat on her face and body during consensual sex.

He also grabbed her by the throat, legs, arms and breasts during intercourse on another occasion. The woman was left bruised.

Jack Seviour also called the woman a “s**t.”

Jack Seviour claimed to jurors that his victims’ evidence had been “fabricated” and all three woman had lied.

Iain Smith, defending, told the court after the verdict: “He has been told that if he is convicted he will lose his job.”

Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Louise Arrol KC.

She said: “This was a course of conduct over 14 months on three women.

“You are no longer a suitable candidate for bail and you will be remanded in custody.”
