A Paedophile from Cornwall, James George, has received a 12-year prison sentence following his conviction for many sexual offences against a girl under the age of 13.
James George, 36, with connections to Camborne and Helston, was sentenced at Truro Crown Court by His Honour Judge Simon Carr on Thursday, June 12, after a jury found him guilty of two counts of sexual assault by penetration on a child under 13 and two counts of sexual assault on a child under 13.
James George is required to register on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
During the trial, the court learnt that the acts were revealed when the victim courageously informed her mother via message that she had experienced sexual assault on multiple times.
The abuse was reported to the police, who subsequently arrived at James George’s residence and apprehended him.
During the interview, James George refuted any occurrence of sexual abuse.
Detective Inspector Andy Shorten said: “I would like to thank the victim in this case for having the bravery to speak up and describe what had happened to her.
“James George spared no thought for his victim and never had the courage to admit what he had done, meaning the victim had to give evidence in court.
“This investigation has been a real team effort involving various officers in Cornwall’s Public Protection Unit and we’re pleased that James George has now been brought to justice.
“We will continue to investigate all allegations of sexual abuse reported to us, regardless of when it took place.”
