A 53-year-old Daventry Sex Offender, Jason Mustoe, has been incarcerated following a jury at Northampton Crown Court determining his guilt in the sexual assault of a vulnerable individual.
Jason Mustoe, from The Medway in Daventry, received a sentence of three years and four months in jail, which was then increased by an additional two years on licence due to his classification as a dangerous offender.
He was subjected to a four-year restraining order prohibiting contact with his victim, in addition to receiving an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Jason Mustoe was convicted of one count of sexual assault against a male on January 13 of this year, after a four-day trial at the county’s crown court. He reappeared in the same court at the conclusion of March to receive his sentence.
The court was informed that on July 27, 2024, Jason Mustoe had inappropriately touched the vulnerable guy, whom he had befriended, and after being instructed to cease, persisted in his acts, fully aware that they were unwelcome and unreciprocated.
The victim informed Jason Mustoe that his inappropriate conduct caused discomfort; yet, despite an apology, Jason Mustoe persisted in making sexual approaches towards the younger guy, who subsequently excused himself and departed.
Upon reaching a secure location, the victim disclosed the incident to a friend, who urged him to notify Northamptonshire Police. Mustoe was apprehended and subsequently indicted in relation to the incident.
On July 30, Jason Mustoe was detained when he did not enter a plea at Northampton Magistrates’ Court, and his case was referred to the county’s crown court for trial.
Detective Constable Stevens, of the CID West team, stated: “Jason Mustoe’s predatory conduct towards a vulnerable individual, who placed his trust in him and regarded him as a friend, is reprehensible.”
“I am pleased that the jury saw him for the dangerous sexual predator that he is, and that the extended prison sentence reflects the seriousness of his offending and the potential risk that he poses to the public.
“Finally, I would like to commend the survivor for both his bravery and dignity throughout the investigation and during the trial, when he was forced to relive the traumatic experience due to Jason Mustoe failing to take responsibility for his appalling actions.”
