A former Chilwell Paedophile scout leader from Nottinghamshire, Jonathan Withey, has been imprisoned for sexually assaulting two minors.

Nottinghamshire Police said that Jonathan Withey sexually assaulted a boy and a girl after seeing them at a scout camp in 1997.

Jonathan Withey, residing on Tindall Close in Chilwell, was sentenced to 16 years in prison at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday.

The police commended Jonathan Withey’s victims, asserting that the 42-year-old would have continued to pose a threat to youngsters had they not reported his misconduct.

The authorities stated that Jonathan Withey was 16 when he encountered his victims at the camp, and he commenced the abuse the subsequent year.

Jonathan Withey maltreated the child for four years and the boy, who was in his early teens, for three years, according to authorities.

Jonathan Withey refuted two allegations of rape, three charges of indecent assault, six counts of indecency with a minor, and two counts of engaging in sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13, yet was found guilty on those charges following a trial in August.

After he was jailed, police investigator Kerry Humphreys said: “Jonathan Withey abused his position of trust as a scout leader to prey upon these children over a long period of time.

“Jonathan Withey continued to deny his offending and subjected his victims to a court trial.”

She added: “Throughout the proceedings he has not expressed any remorse about the ordeal they have gone through.

“Jonathan Withey is a devious and predatory sex offender whose offending has unsurprisingly had a very significant impact on these two victims.”

She praised the bravery of his victims adding: “Withey would have remained a danger to any children Jonathan Withey came into contact with if they had not spoken out about what happened.”
