A man from Northallerton, Luke Jack Ridley, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for the rape of a teenage girl over ten years ago.

Luke Jack Ridley, 29, currently incarcerated at HMP Holme House in Stockton-on-Tees, entered a guilty plea to two charges of rape at Teesside Crown Court on 4 February 2025.

The episodes occurred during his adolescence when he imposed himself on a female many years his junior.

The victim reported the attacks to North Yorkshire Police in September 2022.

The inquiry has been conducted by Detective Constable Quita Readman from the Hambleton and Richmondshire Criminal Investigation Department.

She provided assistance to the victim during the investigation and ensured she received professional treatment and support, including from IDAS.

After today’s sentencing at Teesside Crown Court, DC Readman remarked, “The victim has exhibited remarkable courage throughout this ordeal.” I anticipate that the court’s verdict will empower her as she embarks on the reconstruction of her life, reassured that justice has been administered.
