A Paedophile from Calderdale, Michael Duck, has been incarcerated after authorities discovered more than 55,000 obscene photos on his computer.
Today at Bradford Crown Court, Michael Duck, 47, of Harewood Avenue, Halifax, was sentenced to 21 months’ imprisonment after an inquiry by Calderdale District’s Online Child Abuse inquiry Team (OCAIT).
The inquiry commenced in June 2022, when electronic devices were confiscated from his residence. An examination of the devices revealed over 55,000 illicit photographs of minors.
Despite issuing a ‘no comment’ statement throughout the interview and throughout the inquiry, he was subsequently charged with three charges of creating indecent photos of children (categories A, B, and C), one crime of possessing severe pornography, and one offence of possessing forbidden images.
After a five-day trial at Bradford Crown Court in January, he was convicted on all counts.
Michael Duck received a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and was mandated to register as a sex offender for a minimum of 10 years.
Commenting on today’s sentencing, Detective Constable Denis Parke from Calderdale OCAIT said:
“We are pleased that Michael Duck will now face a custodial sentence for his crimes. He is a sexual offender who poses a significant risk to children.
“The material he possessed and shared can only be described as abhorrent – depicting the most serious sexual offences committed by adults against children and animals.
“The distributing, possession and downloading of indecent images is depraved and those who do it, should expect to be prosecuted.
“The OCAIT are a specialist team dedicated to targeting those who use the perceived anonymity of the internet to cause serious harm to children. It is challenging work, but we are committed to removing dangerous people like Duck from the streets and protecting children.”
