Michael Hargrave, the Edgware Paedophile, deemed “dangerous” has been sentenced to imprisonment lasting 13 years and eight months. This verdict follows the individual’s admission of guilt about sexual offences committed against two minors in Hertfordshire.
Michael Hargrave, a 31-year-old resident of Loch Crescent in Edgware, pleaded guilty to six crimes before St Albans Crown Court on August 10th.
On May 11, 2023, he was apprehended at a residence in Kings Langley following a report from a 14-year-old girl in Hemel Hempstead who claimed to have participated in sexual activities with a man she had encountered on the internet.
During Michael Hargrave’s detention, subsequent enquiries revealed the existence of a nine-year-old victim in Hemel Hempstead, whom the authorities were able to protect.
He had been communicating with the girl through Snapchat using his online pseudonym.
Michael Hargrave was subsequently charged with:
-Two counts of sexual communication with a child.
-Three counts of sexual activity with a child.
-Two counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act.
-One count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activities.
-Three counts of a breach of the sexual harm prevention order.
-One count of failure to comply with notification requirements.
The offences occurred from January 2022 to April 2023.
Michael Hargrave initially encountered both victims on Snapchat and subsequently organised a face-to-face meeting with the 14-year-old victim, during which he committed offences against her.
Detective Sergeant Sam Jarvis, a child online safeguarding team member, expressed that the squad achieved a favourable outcome by apprehending another very hazardous criminal. This success was made possible due to the courageous actions of the two victims.
“We will persist in identifying and actively pursuing individuals in Hertfordshire who present a sexual threat to children.”
His sentence was prolonged for an additional five years under supervision; he will be included in the Sex Offenders’ Register and must indefinitely comply with the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Licence conditions refer to regulations that individuals must adhere to after being released from jail but still have a portion of their sentence to complete in the community.
The probation agency has the authority to cancel a licence and recall an individual to custody if they determine that the individual has violated the conditions of their licence at any point throughout the period.
