The Killamarsh Paedophile, Michael Sutton, chronically raped an innocent child who recounted how his upbringing was devastated by years of physical and sexual abuse
Michael Sutton physically assaulted the child with a belt and sexually abused him repeatedly throughout an eight-year span from 2012 to 2020.
The abuse was revealed when the 32-year-old was apprehended for unlawfully taking a child following an incident with another teenager in Nottinghamshire in February 2021.
In a victim personal statement detailing the impact of Michael Sutton’s abuse, the adolescent expressed: “I do not feel capable of trusting anyone, a sentiment I have harboured since he commenced his actions against me.” I am consistently cautious around unfamiliar individuals, and I recognise that this is due to him.
Initially, I perceived his actions as usual due to my youth. It was only upon reaching maturity that I began to recognise its impropriety. At that time, I felt unable to confide in anyone, since I believed no one would take me seriously.
I will never forgive him for what he did to me; he destroyed my childhood. I will never forget his actions towards me, and this really distresses me.
Michael Sutton, from Killamarsh, confessed to assault, sexual assault, child cruelty, and unlawfully taking a child. He attended Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on January 25, where he received a total prison term of four and a half years.
He was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a ten-year restraining order, prohibiting any contact with the victim.
Detective Constable Naomi Davies, of the child investigation team, stated: “The survivor in this case endured years of abuse perpetrated by Michael Sutton, a predatory sex offender.”
“During a period when they ought to have been untroubled and revelling in companionship and typical childhood pleasures, they were, instead, left traumatised and wounded by Michael Sutton’s malevolent deeds.”
The cessation of physical and sexual abuse does not terminate the survivor’s ordeal, as they will endure the psychological repercussions of their experiences for an extended period.
I am gratified that Michael Sutton is now incarcerated for his offences, where he rightfully belongs.
The courage exhibited by this individual in reporting the abuse to the authorities is remarkable, and I wish to praise them for it, along with their composure during the court proceedings.
