Subsequent to an inquiry into the Slough Rapist, Robert Francis, conducted by Thames Valley Police, he has been incarcerated after being found guilty of several charges of rape.
Robert Francis, 52 years old, previously of High Street, Slough, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday, May 6.20250515-Robert Francis.jpg
The trial lasted ten days, resulting in Robert Francis being convicted of two charges of rape against one lady and one count of rape against another woman.
In 2023, Robert Francis befriended a vulnerable woman and earned her trust. On the night of 9 June, he intoxicated the woman and assaulted her sexually on two separate instances.
The police were notified of the occurrence, and Robert Francis was apprehended on 11 June 2023.
The requisite threshold for charges was not satisfied, and Francis was released on bail under stipulated terms while additional investigations were conducted.
On June 6, 2024, Robert Francis formed a friendship with another susceptible woman. He once more earned her trust, but then assaulted her when she was unconscious. She awakened and fled.
Robert Francis was apprehended on the same day. On 7 June, he was indicted on two charges of rape involving the first victim and one count of rape involving the second victim.
At the sentencing hearing, Robert Francis was given a custodial sentence of 16 years and was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He will also have to sign the sex offenders register for life, and will also be subject to an extended licence for five years.
Detective Constable William Holbrook, said: Robert Francis has sought out vulnerable females who he has then exploited for his own gain.
“What he did not account for, was the strength of both the victims, to stand up, support the investigations, and hold him criminally accountable for what he did”.
Detective Constable Debbie Joyce added: “The victims in this case have shown remarkable strength and courage throughout the investigation process and subsequent trial.
“I hope that they can now find some closure and move forwards with their lives.
