Robert Hathaway and Melissa Moon Paedophiles

Back in 2011 a Paedophile female and four child molester men were incarcerated for their involvement in an international paedophile ring that perpetrated “horrific” offences against two young children in the UK and one in Australia. Are they living near to you?

Robert Hathaway, 37, the ringleader from Portsmouth, Hampshire, was sentenced to an indeterminate period of 12 years at Portsmouth Crown Court, while his partner, Melissa Noon, 30, received a four-year sentence.

Judge Roger Hetherington informed Robert Hathaway that he would remain incarcerated for a minimum of six years and would not be eligible for release until the parole board determined he no longer posed a threat to children.

The three more defendants became implicated by connecting with the couple online to perpetrate the abuse.

Stephen Fraser, 42, from Cambridge, received a four-year sentence with an extended licence period of six years; Simon Hilton, 29, from North London, was also sentenced to four years with an extended licence period of six years; and Lee Parson, 38, from Portsmouth, was incarcerated for three years.

A six-week trial revealed that two young children in the UK were subjected to recurrent abuse by a group that exploited a nudist website as a facade for their depravity.

The Hampshire police initiated their investigation into the network following a tip-off from Australian authorities, who had discovered a “mirror image” ring in Brisbane and Sydney that had exploited at least one young child.

Robert Hathaway had communicated with this ring and shared photographs with them, while one of the allegations against Melissa Noon was for inciting the Australian youngster to participate in sexual conduct.

Police discovered 2,000 pages of chat logs, 14,000 indecent photographs of children, and 300 films of child abuse.

The maltreatment encompassed acts of rape and sexual assault, in addition to coercing the youngsters into participating in nude games of Twister and wrestling.

While Kerry Maylin, the prosecutor, delineated the acts perpetrated by the accused, audible expressions of disdain emanated from the crowded public gallery.

She stated that the victims were “systematically and repeatedly” raped by Hathaway and subjected to daily sexual assault.

The maltreatment was recorded with thousands of images and films, some lasting up to 42 minutes, which were disseminated by Hathaway online.

The abuse occurred while the victims were viewing children’s television programs and during bedtime tales, namely when they were observed reading books like In the Night Garden.

Certain instances of abuse were transmitted live online via webcams, reaching paedophiles globally who would affirm to the victims that the conduct was “normal.”

Maylin stated that among the abusive movies discovered on Robert Hathaway’s computer was a cartoon resembling The Simpsons, designed to instruct minors on sexual abuse.

She described Melissa Noon’s involvement in the crimes, stating that in addition to photographing the offences for dissemination on her nudist website, she also participated by engaging in a naked game of Twister with one of the victims.

During a webcam conversation, Melissa Noon instructed the Australian victim to disrobe, thereafter referring to her as his “little sweet princess” and commenting on her “adorable body.”

When the girl requests to exit the chat, Melissa Noon responds, “Do not depart; I am just becoming animated.”

Maylin stated that Melissa Noon was evidently “sexually aroused”.

In a separate online discussion regarding child abuse with a female paedophile in Australia, Melissa Noon informs her that one of the UK victims “lacks comprehension of this form of love; she is too young, I will continue to educate her.”

Following the case, Maylin stated: “This was a heinous instance of systematic child abuse in which the defendants inflicted egregious acts of sexual abuse on children as young as four and incited others globally to perpetrate similar crimes.”

Paul Walker, representing Melissa Noon, stated that she experienced learning challenges and possessed an IQ ranging from 61 to 69, categorising her inside the lowest 1% for her age group.

He stated: “This implies that she is more susceptible to manipulation and coercion.”

He stated that without Robert Hathaway’s “manipulations,” Noon would not have engaged in child abuse.

Stephen Smyth, representing Robert Hathaway, stated that his client experienced depression and had been susceptible to “external influences” following the death of his mother at the age of eight and his father at ten.

“Smyth stated that in his bleak and dreary existence, there was essentially nothing apart from sexual encounters.”

Jennifer Knight, representing Parson, a father of two, stated that he experienced an unfortunate childhood characterised by an alcoholic father and a wife who was abusive and violent towards him.

Andrew Turton, representing Hilton, stated that he was experiencing sadness and had been feeling alone after a recent relationship dissolution.

He stated that the IT expert had grown estranged in both his professional and social spheres, which centred on the internet, indicating “he was inhabiting a virtual existence in a digital realm”.

David Reid, representing Fraser, stated that his client acknowledged his sexual interest in youngsters and recognised the harm he inflicted upon them.

He stated that he ceased his criminal activities voluntarily, as his severe offences had led him to recognise the wrongfulness of his actions.

Reid stated, “The gravest offences served as a catalyst for him.” He characterises it as prompting him to acknowledge the gravity of the situation, after which he had no other communication.

Jon Brown, the head of strategy and development for sexual abuse at the children’s charity NSPCC, stated that the case underscored the extreme measures to which certain individuals will resort to create such “appalling” photos.

“The internet has significantly facilitated access to such material, thus rendering the cessation of this abhorrent trade a formidable challenge,” he stated.

Daily, infants and children are subjected to assault and rape to satisfy the seemingly unquenchable desire for obscene images and movies. With each viewing, additional degradation is inflicted upon the young victims.

Approximately one-third of individuals convicted of possessing child abuse photographs have also perpetrated other grave sexual offences against minors, stated Brown, emphasising the importance of identifying these individuals and notifying the police.

He stated, “Equally important, the young victims must receive therapeutic intervention to assist them in overcoming their traumatic experiences.”
