Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a woman who was playing with her young children at a south London park.

Police were called around 2.20pm on Sunday, October 20, by a woman who had been assaulted at Morden Recreation Park.

She had been with her family, including two young children, when she was approached by a young man who is described as being in his late teens.

A Met police spokesperson said he “spoke briefly” to the woman before sexually assaulting her. He then ran away in the direction of Canterbury Road.

Detectives on Friday released an electronically generated image of a man they “need to identify and speak with”.

The suspect was around 6ft tall and of skinny build, said police. He was wearing a burgundy hoodie with white writing on it, as well as blue tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

Detective Constable Tom Green, from the local policing team, said: “We know this assault will cause a lot of worry in the local community, especially as this woman was playing with her children at the time.

“I would ask you to take a close look at the e-fit. Do you recognise him, or the clothing that he was wearing? It is vital that we identify him.

“If you have any concerns, please speak with officers.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 reference CAD 3851/20Oct. To remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

[Editor’s Note – The MET once again refuse to let us know in words his skin colour but we assume he is Black or mixed race looking at the e-fit]
