A sex offender, Sonny McDonagh, has been incarcerated for providing law enforcement with a fictitious address.

Sonny McDonagh, 28, of no permanent residence, admitted guilt for not supplying officials with his accurate address at the Saltcoats police station on October 21 of the previous year.

Submitting an accurate address was a component of his notification obligations under the Sexual Offences Act.

After terminating his attorney and opting to self-represent in Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on January 13, he sought to alter his guilty plea.

Sonny McDonagh said: “Everyone knows I’m not a beast. I’m not a sex offender. I don’t need to tell the police anything.

“I’m going to sue the courts and the papers.”

However, Sheriff Nicola Patrick said: “You have given me no option but a custodial sentence.”

Sonny McDonagh was jailed for four months, with his sentence backdated to October 29
