Additional information has emerged concerning the rape allegations against renowned Chillspot producer Tafadzwa Mandaza, commonly referred to as DJ Ribhe.

The State said that DJ Ribhe purportedly raped a 14-year-old girl after administering intoxicated chemicals to her.

During his appearance before Harare regional magistrate Mrs. Marehwanazvo Gofa, DJ Ribhe was directed not to enter a plea. He was detained and is set to appear in court again on November 20. DJ Ribhe was instructed to seek bail at the High Court.

The State narrated the chain of events that kicked off on October 16, at around 4 p.m., when the Form Two schoolgirl did not return home from school, fearing punishment from her father, who had been informed that she had not set foot on the school premises for two consecutive days despite leaving home on the pretence that she was going to school.

The court heard that at around 10 p.m. the next day, she and a group of people went to Mandaza’s residence, eventually moving on to Mashwede Village for a night of fun.

Once at Mashwede Village, Mandaza allegedly persuaded the girl to drink an unknown substance and smoke shisha. On October 18, around 3 a.m., the two went back to Mandaza’s house, where the girl later regained consciousness the following day.

When she woke up, she realized that Mandaza had been intimate with her without her consent.

The day after the alleged assault, around 9 a.m., the schoolgirl was located in Highfield, Harare, after a missing person report was filed at ZRP Glen Norah. The rape allegations became public on October 20 when the girl was interviewed by her father after being found.
