A brutal rapist Teodor-Alin Pirvu who assaulted and strangled a woman in Rochester has received a nearly 15-year prison sentence. Teodor-Alin Pirvu exposed the victim to an extended and harrowing experience after enticing her to his residence last year.

Teodor-Alin Pirvu first interacted with the woman in April 2023 while she awaited a meeting with a mutual acquaintance, according to Kent Police. Amidst the torrential downpour, she consented to accompany Pirvu to his residence on Rochester High Street as she awaited her friend’s arrival.

Upon entry, Teodor-Alin Pirvu’s demeanour abruptly shifted, and after issuing multiple sexual requests, he assaulted the victim with punches and kicks repeatedly. He additionally encircled her neck with a scarf and tightened it to asphyxiate her.

Teodor-Alin Pirvu obstructed the woman’s departure, threatening to kill her. He brandished knives at her throat and subjected her to violence.

The victim successfully escaped after departing the location jointly on April 11. Upon police arrival at her residence, she was discovered with apparent injuries, including contusions and oedema on her face and head. She was additionally experiencing auditory impairment.

Officers learned the victim had bitten her attacker on the cheek and when Teodor-Alin Pirvu was arrested, on April 13, this injury was clearly visible. A search of his home led to the recovery of the scarf and knives he used.

Teodor-Alin Pirvu, 37, was charged with multiple offences but denied any wrongdoing. Following a trial at Maidstone Crown Court, he was found guilty of counts of rape, sexual assault, threats to kill, intentional strangulation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

On March 26, Teodor-Alin Pirvu was sentenced to 14-and-a-half years’ imprisonment. He was described by the judge as ‘dangerous’ and must serve at least two thirds of the sentence before he can apply for parole.

When he is eventually released from prison, Teodor-Alin Pirvu will be the subject of an extended licence period of five years.
