Christopher Dawe, a violent Duffield sex offender who persistently abused his former partner, has received a suspended sentence as an Early Xmas present from the Judge.

Christopher Dawe, 31 years old, initiated a sustained assault on the victim at her residence in the Rushcliffe region during the early hours of 12 February 2022.

She sustained extensive bruising across her body as a result of the incident.

Officers initiated an investigation while assisting the victim, and Christopher Dawe was charged with many crimes.

He was cautioned to maintain distance from her as a condition of his bail, nevertheless he persisted in intimidating and threatening her, in addition to inundating her with texts.

He also attacked her during their encounter.

Christopher Dawe, of Castle Orchard, Duffield, Derbyshire, pleaded guilty to five assaults occasioning actual bodily harm and one of assault by beating.

At Nottingham Crown Court on Monday (16 December) he was jailed for 20 months, suspended for 18 months.

Detective Constable Stephen Dunn, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Christopher Dawe’s threatening and violent behaviour towards the victim was cowardly and persistent.

“This kind of violence against women is absolutely appalling and we will always work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice and safeguard victims.

“We realise some vulnerable victims of domestic abuse may be concerned about taking part in the legal process to get justice.

“We understand those concerns and work hard with our partners to overcome them in any way we can.”
