Darren Keith Brady, aged 41 and unemployed, from Seaside, Eastbourne, was sentenced to 12 years of incarceration at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday.
He received a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) that substantially restricts his contact to minors, and he will be a lifelong registered sex offender.
Darren Keith Brady had previously pleaded guilty to five counts of engaging in sexual activity with the girl, who was 14 years old at the time, in Eastbourne over an extended duration in 2012.
Detective Constable Charlie Ward stated, “Darren Keith Brady progressively ingratiated himself with the girl, whom he had encountered through acquaintances, and became increasingly controlling, compelling her to acquiesce to him.”
Ultimately, she mustered the determination to step forward upon learning that he was subsequently incarcerated for a comparable offence. We are pleased that Darren Keith Brady has been held accountable and that the victim, who was not had to testify in court, has attained a degree of closure.
