Wootton Paedophile Daryll Pitcher, a councillor from the Isle of Wight, has been convicted of historical child rapes. The trial at the Isle of Wight Crown Court, lasting six days, completed today (Monday).
Five hours to reach a decision
This morning, the jury commenced deliberations and reached a conclusion after nearly five hours.
The 46-year-old Daryll Pitcher has been convicted of two charges of rape occurring between June 1990 and March 1992.
11-1 adjudicated Pitcher culpable
The jury rendered a majority conviction on the charges, as unanimity was not achieved, with 11 members finding Daryll Pitcher, of Norman Way, Wootton, guilty.
During the trial, Pitcher was acquitted of indecent assault against a minor under 14 years due to the prosecution’s lack of evidence.
Sentencing scheduled for April
A pre-sentence report was solicited by Recorder Richard Onslow prior to sentencing on April 12th.
Mr. Onslow informed Daryll Pitcher that all sentencing alternatives remained available to the court and expressed gratitude to the jury for their attentive consideration of the matter, acknowledging its complexity.
Sex Offender Registry
Daryll Pitcher will be registered as a sex offender and has been granted bail to attend the sentencing, with the stipulation that he must not contact the victim.
