A WOMAN who suffered abuse at the hands of a molester, Gavin Wright Uckfield Paedophile, in childhood has characterised her assailant as “manipulative and dangerous”.

She addressed Gavin Wright, 50, of Norfolk Way in Uckfield, who was imprisoned for his crimes.

For more than a year, 16 years ago, he tormented her, a ten-year-old child, with a sequence of sexual attacks.

Before methodically mistreating her for his sexual satisfaction, Gavin Wright had sought her confidence.

At Chichester Crown Court, Gavin Wright was sentenced to seven years in jail after being found guilty of six sexual assaults and for owning and distributing obscene photos of youngsters.

The victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, said she found the bravery to tell police what occurred to “expose him for what he is to the world – manipulative and dangerous – and ensure that what I went through is never allowed to be repeated and affect the life of any other young person”.

“No person deserves to have any of this happen to them,” she stated. He deserves to pay for his deeds now and in the future.

Police identified another sex offender contacting Wright and sending photographs, which he then shared with others after Gavin Wright was caught. Police also found offensive images of children being mistreated in his possession.

Gavin Wright will be a registered sex offender for life, slapped with a restraining order to forbid interaction with his victim, and handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order – so limiting his access to minors and technology.

Gavin Wright received a seven-year jail sentence: four and a half years for the sexual assaults and two and a half years for his internet transgressions.
