After an inquiry by Thames Valley Police, John Dugan, a British black man, has been sentenced to imprisonment for a rape committed in Milton Keynes.

John Dugan, 29, of Larwood Place, was sentenced to seven and a half years in jail on Friday, November 22, at Aylesbury Crown Court.

John Dugan was convicted of two charges of rape at the same court on Thursday, November 21.

John Dugan was acquitted of one charge of non-fatal strangling.

On Friday 24 May 2024, Dugan subjected a woman to rape. He was arrested on 27 May and charged with two counts of rape and one count of non-fatal strangulation one day later.

Investigating officer Detective Constable John Swallow said: “I would like to highlight the bravery of the victim throughout this investigation and trial.

“The offence was captured on an audio recording which was harrowing to listen to and proved pivotal in the guilty verdict.

“This investigation was fast-paced and the investigation team worked tirelessly to secure a charge and remand to custody.
