Where is Jonathan Cavalier? Is he wheeling himself into raping another child in your community? Where is Eastbourne Paedophile Jonathan Cavalier?

A wheelchair-bound individual convicted of abusing an 11-year-old kid has been sentenced to 13 years in prison.

In 2004, Jonathan Cavalier, now 57, extorted the youngster into acquiescing to sexual abuse.

A judge at Hove Crown Court stated, “You are a perilous individual.”

Cavalier, residing on Parkfield Avenue in Eastbourne, was a registered sex offender, having completed a seven-year sentence for perpetrating a masked gunpoint assault on a lady in 1988. He subsequently became paraplegic from the waist down due to a motorbike accident.

On December 20, he was convicted of two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault against the same victim. In 2004, he feigned mentorship of the 11-year-old.

On one occasion, he feigned the loss of his wallet and solicited the boy’s assistance in locating it.

He employed a concealed camera to record the boy’s gaze and subsequently informed the child that the tape may be manipulated to portray him as a robber.

The cavalier coerced the boy into engaging in sexual practices by intoxicating him prior to the abuse. Judge Richard Hayward characterised the youngster as a “troubled young lad” and noted that he subsequently experienced significant personal difficulties.

Cavalier maintained notebooks detailing his intended actions.

Judge Hayward stated: “You had evidently premeditated your scheme to manipulate, corrupt, and sexually exploit [him].”

He imposed a 13-year “extended determinate sentence” on Cavalier.

He will not qualify for release until he has completed two-thirds of his sentence, and may only be released prior to the full term with the consent of a parole board.

Following the 13-year term, he must stay on licence for an additional seven years.

He is prohibited from any interaction with individuals under 16 years of age unless their parents consent and are informed of his conviction.

He stated, “I am thoroughly convinced that you are a perilous individual, possibly arising from physical and sexual frustration.”
