Laurence Wheeler paedophile child sex offender

A Paedophile from Polegate, East Sussex, Laurence Wheeler, surreptitiously recorded three ladies and girls with concealed cameras and encouraged a little girl to engage in immoral actions with him.

Laurence Wheeler, formerly employed as a cleaner, received a six-year sentence, accompanied by an additional two-year extended license supervision period, at Hove Crown Court on 30 April.

At a previous hearing, the 32-year-old, Laurence Wheeler, of Mortimer Gardens, Polegate, pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images of children, five counts of voyeurism and two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity over a three-year period.

Laurence Wheeler was first arrested at a family address in New Addington, Croydon, in May 2019 after Sussex Police gained intelligence about indecent images of children.

They found more than 500 indecent images of children, as well as videos filmed with a phone hidden in a bathroom at an address in Hove in 2017 showing three women, videos of children filmed under the partition in changing rooms at a London swimming pool, and messages from Laurence Wheeler to the young girl with two videos showing the indecent acts which were filmed in 2018.

Laurence Wheeler will be a registered sex offender for life and was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for life, severely restricting his access to females and communication devices.

Detective Constable Matt Digweed of the Brighton Safeguarding Investigations Unit said that Laurence Wheeler had “taken advantage of his access to physically abuse a trusting, small girl” and that he had “systematically planned to invade the privacy of the women and young children for his sexual gratification”.
