A Rapist from Rye, Marcus Page, who sexually assaulted a woman he encountered in a Hastings pub, has been sentenced to prison.
Marcus Page, 26, from Spring Hill in Rye, encountered his victim—a lady in her 20s—at a pub on George Street on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
Subsequent to their time at the bar, the victim recounted being escorted to a public stairwell, where Marcus Page assaulted her sexually.
She successfully sought assistance and reported the event to the police the subsequent day.
Specialist cops assisted the victim when Marcus Page was apprehended that afternoon.
Marcus Page was indicted for rape and, after a trial at Hove Crown Court, found guilty on 25 April 2025.
On Thursday, 19 June, at Guildford Crown Court, he was sentenced to five years in prison and issued a 10-year restraining order against the victim.
Detective Sergeant Auryn Liddiard said: “This young woman made it explicitly clear that she did not consent to sexual activity, which Marcus Page ignored for his own vile gratification.
“She has shown incredible bravery, in the face of extreme trauma, to report the incident to police, who swiftly brought Marcus Page into custody.”
“Thanks to her resilience in supporting this investigation, Marcus Page has faced justice for his crime and can pose no further risk to the public.”
