A former Derbyshire Paedophile police community support officer from Nottinghamshire, PC Matthew Shaw, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after confessing to many child sexual offences.
Matthew Shaw, 38 years old, was reported to law enforcement after being apprehended while recording a girl in a changing room at Centre Parcs swimming pool.
Matthew Shaw, who has now resigned from Derbyshire Police, was confronted by the girl’s mother after he inserted a camera behind a cubicle wall in a changing room on April 27, 2022.
He was later reported to Nottinghamshire Police and apprehended at his residence two days afterward.
Authorities confiscated multiple electronic gadgets, including a cell phone concealed within the roof of his garage. Analysis of these devices uncovered further videos captured in changing rooms.
Evidence was also obtained indicating that Matthew Shaw, of Bernard Avenue, Mansfield Woodhouse, participated in online sexual actions with multiple minors.
Matthew Shaw originally refuted any misconduct but subsequently confessed to 21 counts of inducing a child to participate in sexual behaviour and three counts of voyeurism.
On Monday, Mat thew Shawwas sentenced to 14 years in prison at Nottingham Crown Court. He will additionally serve six years on parole.
He was additionally placed on the sex offenders’ register and subjected to a sexual harm prevention order.
Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Scott of Nottinghamshire Police stated: “Ma tthew Shawis a cunning and manipulative sex offender now commencing a warranted prison sentence.”
“Although he did not engage in physical contact with his victims, he nonetheless inflicted significant harm on vulnerable youth by exposing them to concepts they were too immature to comprehend, let alone consent to.”
“The safety of children is our utmost priority, and we will relentlessly pursue individuals who perpetrate such offenses.”
“I am gratified that Shaw has been incarcerated and hope this case acts as a deterrent to others regarding the repercussions of such conduct – eventually, we will apprehend you, and incarceration is probable.”
Deputy Chief Constable Simon Blatchly of Derbyshire Police stated, “The offences for which Matthew Shaw has been prosecuted are appalling.”
Upon the emergence of the claims, Matthew Shaw was suspended from his position as a PCSO, and the force provided assistance to Nottinghamshire Police in their investigation. He subsequently vacated his position last year.
“The investigation concluded that none of Matthew Shaw’s offences occurred while he was on duty, and no victims were identified as being associated with his role.”
“Although all officers and staff occupy a position of trust, PCSOs possess a distinctive role that facilitates their interaction with numerous diverse groups within our communities, including youth.”
“His role and position of trust render his crimes particularly shocking to the public, and I concur with their revulsion towards his actions.”
A spokesperson for the NSPCC child protection charity responded to the statement, saying: “As a PCSO, Matthew Shaw was expected to assist the community.” Instead, he betrayed them egregiously by perpetrating a series of sexual offences against multiple children and contributing to the abhorrent industry of internet child exploitation by procuring obscene photos.
“These offences can exert a catastrophic effect on the victims.”
