A sexual deviant Newton Heath Paedophile, Michael Edge, who planned to meet a ‘teenage girl’ for sexual encounters was apprehended by paedophile hunters for the second occasion.
In 2018, Michael Edge was jailed for one year for seeking to engage with a 12-year-old child after dispatching reprehensible, sexualised grooming communications. He was confined for his own protection after encountering hunters at his residence in Stockport. Furious parents converged on his residence following the airing of the ‘sting’ on Facebook.
Notwithstanding this, Michael Edge was once more apprehended attempting to engage in sexual relations with an underage female. In preliminary discussions with the ’14-year-old girl’, who was, in fact, an adult woman masquerading as a minor, Michael Edge aimed to ‘get reassurance’ that he was ‘not being entrapped’.
He has now been incarcerated for two and a half years following his appearance before a judge once more. During the prosecution, Anthony Williams said Manchester Crown Court that last year, Michael Edge contacted two adult women affiliated with a paedophile hunter group, who were impersonating 14-year-old girls online under various aliases.
His discussions with both ‘girls’, occurring in September and October, quickly became sexual in nature. Ultimately, Michael Edge coordinated a meeting with one of them in Newton Heath.
However, he was confronted by members of the paedophile hunting organisation. The police were summoned, resulting in Michael Edge’s arrest.
In defence, Ellie Akhgar stated of the defendant: “He sincerely aspires to achieve a future devoid of offenses.” He sincerely seeks to comprehend himself more thoroughly to avoid returning to this situation.
During sentencing, Judge Nicholas Dean KC informed Edge: “In the autumn of the previous year, you committed an offence of a nature with which you have prior involvement.” This is, to my knowledge, how you were apprehended previously.
You initially took measures to ascertain that you were conversing with a youngster rather than individuals seeking to apprehend paedophiles. Ultimately, you organised efforts to attempt a meeting.
“That ultimately resulted in no outcome.” Your goals in choosing to meet her appear unequivocally aimed at engaging in sexual intercourse.
Michael Edge, of Oldway Walk, Newton Heath, admitted guilt to two charges of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor and one charge of attempting to meet a child under 16 after grooming.
