Michael Inwood, 32, a man with prior convictions for abusing partners, commenced a relationship with a woman he encountered on Facebook. Upon discovering his history of domestic violence, the woman initiated enquiries, prompting Michael Inwood to commence a campaign of abuse against her.
In January of this year, Michael Inwood became incensed when the woman rejected his offer of food. The court was informed that he commenced to “repeatedly strike her across her body,” resulting in bruises and further injuries. The woman stated in her victim statement that she is now “unable to sleep” and has despair.
Michael Inwood, residing on North Street in Spennymoor, was sentenced at Durham Crown Court for three charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, committed between December of the previous year and January of the current year. He received a three-year prison sentence and a permanent restraining order was additionally enforced.
