An Ipstones Paedophile, Nicholas McCabe, who committed sexual offences involving children in Staffordshire has been found guilty on 25 charges after a trial in a court of law.
Nicholas McCabe, 57, of Ipstones, Staffordshire, was found guilty by a jury following a nine-day trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court today (Thursday 29 August).
He was convicted on:
- Eight counts of the rape of a girl under 16
- Four counts of the rape of a woman
- Eight counts of the indecent assault of a girl under 16
- Three counts of sexual assault on a female 13 and over
- Two counts of sexual assault on a female
The court was presented with evidence detailing how Nicholas McCabe subjected the survivors to a sustained pattern of mistreatment during the period spanning from the 1990s to the 2000s in Staffordshire.
Upon receiving a courageous testimony from one individual detailing the events of July 2020, we initiated efforts to gather all available information to pursue legal action against Nicholas McCabe. Additional survivors then came forward to corroborate the investigation.
Nicholas McCabe was interrogated while in detention and asserted his innocence regarding the charges.
Investigative Officer Janine Shropshire and Detective Constable Diane Sproston from our rape and serious sexual crimes squad (RASSO) diligently supported the survivors and successfully obtained 25 charges against McCabe in 2022.
Our overwhelming evidence resulted in a unanimous jury verdict of guilt on all 25 charges for Nicholas McCabe in court.
The individual’s sentencing will occur at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 11 October 2024.
Detective Constable Diane Sproston and Investigative Officer Janine Shropshire expressed their admiration for the bravery of the survivors in this case, who came forward and assisted in collecting the necessary evidence to convict Nicholas McCabe of his vile acts.
“This result would not have been possible without their courage and ability to recover from difficult situations.”
“Although this outcome cannot undo the immense psychological damage inflicted upon the survivors, we anticipate that it will provide them with a feeling of resolution. We expect Nicholas McCabe’s deceitful actions to be unsuccessful, and he will now be held accountable for his wrongdoing.”
