British London Paedophile, Reinaldo Goncalo Bertoni Filho, 41 (DOB: 28/04/1983), of Askew Road, London, pleaded guilty to sexual assault by penetration at Guildford Crown Court on 13 May, following a prior guilty plea to the sexual assault of a minor under 13 years.
He was apprehended after submitting an application to become a Police Community Support Officer with the British Transport Police in September 2024 and was requested to produce a DNA sample as part of the vetting procedure, which corresponded with DNA collected from the two assaults.
The initial incident occurred on 10 July 2017 on a walkway in the Hogsmill Open Space, Ewell. The 15-year-old victim was cycling alone when Reinaldo Goncalo Bertoni Filho approached her on foot, subsequently cornering and forcing her to the ground. She was thereafter sexually abused.
The victim bit Reinaldo Goncalo Bertoni Filho on the elbow and scraped his face, prompting him to flee.
The victim subsequently halted a passerby and recounted the incident.
A male DNA profile was extracted from her clothing and compared to the National DNA Database, yielding no matches. The profile has been uploaded to the database.
On 17 August 2017, a 10-year-old victim was walking alone on a sidewalk in Claygate Common when a guy jogged by her, then turned, seized her, and forcibly pinned her against a tree, where he sexually assaulted her.
She successfully elevated her leg and struck Reinaldo Goncalo Bertoni Filho in the abdomen before fleeing.
The victim informed a family acquaintance of the incident, and they drove around in an attempt to locate the offender, identifying Goncalo Bertoni Filho while he was jogging. He was clad in the identical trousers and trainers he had donned during the assault on her.
The family friend challenged Reinaldo Goncalo Bertoni Filho, who denied he had done anything wrong before running off. The friend chased him on foot and punched him, knocking a single ear bud out of his ear.
The DNA taken from the ear bud matched the DNA recovered from the first offence and the sample that Reinaldo Goncalo Bertoni Filho provided to the British Transport Police in September 2024 and he was subsequently arrested.
Reinaldo Goncalo Bertoni Filho will be sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on 25 July.
Detective Sergeant Adele Robertson from the Surrey and Sussex Police Major Crime Team said: “Firstly, I would like to pay tribute to both victims, who were children at the time these heinous offences took place, for their bravery and coming forward and reporting what they had been subjected to.
“Reinaldo Goncalo Bertoni Filho was a dangerous sexual predator who targeted young girls on their own in isolated areas with the sole purpose of committing a sexual offence against them. The fact that he has finally been dealt with through the courts after eight years shows how determined we are in our relentless pursuit for justice.
“His audacity at applying to join the British Transport Police as a PCSO defies belief, but it was this which ultimately led to being identified.
“The team put in a huge amount of work into investigating these attacks at the time and this case illustrates our commitment to continuing to investigate even after several years. We would urge others who have been victims of similar offences to come forward and report these – you will be listened to, and you will be supported.”
