A 30-year-old Hemel Hempstead Sex Offender, Ahmad Ahmedzai, has been sentenced to nearly six months in prison for sexually assaulting three women on trains in London, following an investigation by the British Transport Police.
Ahmad Ahmedzai of Great Road, Hemel Hempstead, was sentenced to 27 weeks of imprisonment on Friday, 30 May, at Inner London Crown Court after pleading guilty to three counts of sexual assault. Ahmad Ahmedzai received a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for seven years, is registered on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years, and is had to pay costs amounting to £687.
The court was informed that Ahmad Ahmedzai targeted solitary ladies on trains in London on three separate occasions last year. On 10 September, he was on a train from Bushey to London Euston when he sexually attacked the 28-year-old woman many times. The victim was unable to distance themselves from Ahmad Ahmedzai due to the crowded train.
On 2 November, Ahmad Ahmedzai was aboard a Jubilee line train from Bermondsey when he sexually assaulted a 28-year-old lady during a crowded service.
On 25 November of same month, Ahmad Ahmedzai was aboard a crowded train travelling from Watford Junction to London Euston, where he sexually attacked a 22-year-old woman.
All three victims reported the assaults to BTP and supplied descriptions; investigators then obtained CCTV footage, leading to Ahmad Ahmedzai’s identification using facial recognition.
The SHPO stipulates that Ahmad Ahmedzai may only utilise the TfL network using an Oyster card or a contactless debit or credit card registered in his name. Additionally, for travel beyond the TfL network, he must pre-book any tickets and inform the police prior to his journey.
Breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order is a criminal offence and can result in further custodial time.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Jack Leach said “Ahmad Ahmedzai is a dangerous predator who targeted women on busy services in order to hide his sick antics, but due to the brave actions of those he targeted, by reporting the crimes to us we were able to catch him.
There is zero-tolerance for sexual offences on the rail network and we will do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice.
