The Mersey Park Flasher, Bashir Waisi has been incarcerated following an incident of indecent exposure in a Tranmere park in April.
On Tuesday, April 1, at around 11:30 AM, we received a report of a guy indecently exposing himself in Mersey Park.
The perpetrator proceeded to the Salvation Army on Old Chester Road, where members of the public assisted police officers in locating him.
Bashir Waisi, 26, of no permanent abode, was charged with the offence of outraging public decency and common assault.
Bashir Waisi appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today (Friday, 20 June), where he was sentenced to 22 weeks of imprisonment, mandated to pay a surcharge of £154, and issued a two-year restraining order concerning the victim.
Detective Chief Inspector Peter Stephenson stated, “Merseyside Police regards reports of such conduct with utmost seriousness, and we appreciate the assistance of the public in locating and apprehending Waisi.”
“We acknowledge the fear and distress he inflicted through his actions, and it is appropriate that he will now serve time in prison to reflect on his conduct.”
Bashir Waisi originally refuted the charge; but, subsequent to police compiling evidence, including witness statements and CCTV footage, he entered a plea of guilty.
“His behaviour has no place in Merseyside, or anywhere and we are pleased to see he has been brought to justice.”
