The Newport Paedophile, Daniel Beatty, a 33-year-old convicted paedophile from Newport, was sentenced to three years in prison in 2015 for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy and exposing him to pornography.
The assaults occurred while his employment at an urban school, where he “preyed” upon his victim.
Daniel Beatty returned to court a decade later after law enforcement discovered two category A indecent images—the most severe type—on his mobile phone.
The offender was additionally determined to have violated the stipulations of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order established subsequent to his conviction a decade prior.
Kathryn Lane, prosecuting, before Cardiff Crown Court that he had unsupervised contact with a 15-year-old boy at that time.
All discussions between Daniel Beatty and the young adolescent were non-sexual, primarily revolving around gaming.
Of the indecent images of children, the prosecutor added: “They showed the penetration of pre-pubescent boys.”
The defendant, Daniel Beatty, also failed to comply with sex offender register requirements – which he must adhere to for life – after failing to complete his annual notification details in time.
Daniel Beatty, of Capel Crescent, Newport pleaded guilty to all three offences which took place between March 2023 and March 2024.
His only previous conviction was for the sexual offences committed in 2015.
The defendant, Daniel Beatty, was found guilty by a jury following a trial of two offences of sexual assault and one offence of causing a child to watch a sexual act.
Referring to the overcrowding crisis in prisons in Wales and England, his barrister Sol Hartley asked the court to punish his client in the community.
There was in Daniel Beatty’s case, his barrister put forward, a “realistic prospect of rehabilitation”.
Judge Simon Mills disagreed and said the only appropriate sentence was one of immediate custody.
“You deliberately chose to defy the sexual harm prevention order,” he told Daniel Beatty.
“You pose a high risk to male children.”
He added: “Indecent images are pictures of real children being sexually abused by evil adults.”
Daniel Beatty was jailed for 12 months and ordered to pay a statutory victim surcharge following his release from prison.
The court ordered the forfeiture and destruction of his mobile phone.
Daniel Beatty will continue to have to register as a sex offender for life and also be the subject of a sexual harm prevention order until further notice.
