Donat Cantrell, the Horsforth Paedophile, was convicted following a trial at Leeds Crown Court for a series of crimes committed against a minor who was approximately 10 or 11 years old at the time. The individual, who is 57 years old, is currently incarcerated for a substantial period as a result of a confrontation with law enforcement in Horsforth in March of the previous year.
However, he received a second nine-year extended term this week, which will only start until his current sentence of 10 years and eight months is finished.
Donat Cantrell informed her that he wanted to cleanse himself and requested her assistance, followed by a request for her to disrobe. He proceeded to purify her by gently washing her entire body, including her genital area. He engaged in self-stimulation and coerced her into touching his reproductive organs before engaging in a sexual act with her. Subsequently, he instructed her to refrain from informing her mother and asserted that he was akin to a grandfather.
On a separate occasion, Donat Cantrell extended an invitation to the girl to enter a bathroom and coerced her into manually stimulating him with the assurance of receiving £20. Subsequently, he accompanied her to a brick-and-mortar store the following day and presented her with the monetary amount, affirming that she had “deserved it”. In addition, he presented her with an explicit movie of a sexual nature.
Donat Cantrell, previously residing at St Helena’s Caravan Park in Horsforth, has been convicted of multiple charges related to sexual offences against a child. These charges include engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, sexual assault of a child, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, assault of a child by penetration, sexual assault of a child, and causing a child to witness a sexual act.
Rebecca Young stated that Donat Cantrell has issues with substance abuse, which she acknowledged does not justify his actions but does provide some insight into it.
Judge Tom Bayliss KC rejected the proposal, stating he could not comprehend the connection. He informed Donat Cantrell: “You held a position of trust with that child.” You attempted to influence the child’s behaviour by first offering gifts and later using money as a means of manipulation. It is challenging to conceive of a more cynical and deliberate endeavour to exploit a child sexually.
