A man from Huddersfield, Joshua Martin, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after admitting to many sexual offences against a minor.
Joshua Martin, 26, from Primrose Hill, Huddersfield, was sentenced today (Friday, March 21) at Leeds Crown Court for four counts of sexual activity with a minor.
The offences occurred between 2024 and early 2025, during which Martin groomed and subsequently commenced sexual abuse of his victim.
The incident was reported to law enforcement in early 2025, resulting in an inquiry by the Kirklees District Child Safeguarding Unit.
Joshua Martin was apprehended and summoned to appear before Leeds Crown Court on 13 January.
In addition to the sexual offences, Martin was also found guilty of failing to adhere to the stipulations of the Sex Offenders Register.
District of Columbia Leia Houtekamer, representing the Kirklees District Child Safeguarding Team, stated: “We commend the conviction and sentencing of Joshua Martin at Leeds Crown Court today.”
Joshua Martin is a registered sex offender who manipulated and subsequently perpetrated sexual acts against a teenage victim, fully aware that she was below the age of consent.
All allegations of sexual offences are treated with utmost seriousness and thoroughly examined by specialised safeguarding investigators.
