Timothy Ryan Gregg, a Special Agent with Homeland Security Investigations, has been charged with the creation of child pornography, as stated by Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson.
Alleged child molester, Timothy Ryan Gregg, 51, of Eagan, Minnesota, allegedly attempted, compelled, and lured a juvenile to engage in sexually explicit activity to produce child pornography, as stated in court filings. Court filings reveal that the father of the juvenile victim found several sexually explicit photographs and videos on the minor’s cell phone. The photographs and videos portrayed a youngster and an adult involved in sexually explicit conduct. The person seen in the photographs and videos was subsequently identified as Timothy Gregg, a Special Agent with Homeland Security Investigations and a Task Force Officer with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
“The U.S. Attorney’s Office will consistently hold defendants in positions of public trust accountable, especially when they perpetrate crimes against vulnerable children,” stated Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson. “I commend the prompt and resolute actions of the FBI and the Rochester Police Department, who responded without delay and collaborated effectively to apprehend Timothy Ryan Gregg safely.”
“The accusations in this matter constitute a severe breach of both legal statutes and the duties assigned to law enforcement officers,” stated Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr. of FBI Minneapolis. “There is no role in law enforcement — or in any position of public trust — for individuals who exploit minors.” The FBI is resolute in its dedication to investigating such actions and ensuring that no one is exempt from the law, irrespective of their position or status.
Timothy Ryan Gregg made his initial appearance in U.S. District Court today, before Magistrate Judge Dulce J. Foster, and was ordered to remain in custody pending further proceedings.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office thanks the FBI and the Rochester Police Department for their investigation and hard work. The U.S. Attorney’s Office also thanks Homeland Security Investigations for their assistance in safely apprehending the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Harry M. Jacobs is prosecuting the case.
A complaint is merely an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
