A 20-year-old Ayr paedophile, Daniel Byrne, has confessed to acquiring obscene images and films of infants as young as few months, in addition to bestiality material.
Daniel Byrne admitted guilt to the possession and distribution of frightening photos of children, some aged from months to two years, at his former residence in Prestwick from August 2022 to January 2024.
Byrne, now listed on the sex offenders registry, admitted to accumulating explicit images and videos featuring horses and dogs from June 2023 to January of the previous year.
The perpetrator, Daniel Byrne, currently residing at Strathayr Place, Ayr, also acknowledged a third allegation of disseminating child exploitation photographs to other paedophiles online between December 18, 2023, and January 3, 2024.
During his appearance at Ayr Sheriff Court last week, solicitor Ian Gillies stated that his client had no prior convictions and had vacated his residence, where the offences occurred, after being rejected by a family member.
Deputy Procurator Fiscal Alasdair Millar stated: “Police arrived on January 4, 2024, with a search warrant.” The defendant opened the door and granted them in.
A variety of devices were confiscated, and cybercrime officers confirmed the presence of indecent photographs of children, leading to the swift arrest of the culprit.
Daniel Byrne was transported to the Kilmarnock police station and gave complete confessions.
The quantity of obscene kid sexual photos was 80, accompanied with 491 videos. There were 978 inaccessible photographs and 334 movies, previously deleted by the user but recovered by the police. The total for the first charge was 80 and 491.
A significant proportion comprised youngsters as young as two years and, in many instances, even a few months old.
A substantial amount was present on the Telegram application.
“In charge two, there were 253 images and 82 videos depicting extreme pornography involving bestiality with adults and horses or dogs.”
Mr. Millar stated that the Crown planned to obliterate all the devices and pursue an additional sexual harm prevention order.
Attorney Mr. Gillies said the court: “[He] is 20 years old and, in my assessment, exceptionally immature for his age.” He was apprehended when law enforcement entered the residence on January 4, when a statement was recorded, and he provided complete admissions.
Daniel Byrne was then released on a commitment to appear on January 29. He instructed me, and upon additional examination, he was granted bail.
The Crown requested further time to examine all devices.
“At this juncture, I request the continuation of bail and the completion of reports within the community, as there is a pertinent background.”
The solicitor stated: “He adhered to the bail conditions meticulously.”
He no longer resides with them in the family house; evidently, this issue unsettled the family, and he now lives alone.
“Specifically, his sister has repudiated him.”
Sheriff Mhairi MacTaggart postponed sentencing pending the completion of criminal justice social work reports and a risk assessment.
The sheriff informed Daniel Byrne: “Please note that the narrative will be accessible to social workers.”
Bail was extended, and Daniel Byrne was registered as a sex offender prior to punishment.
