A 70-year-old Barking Paedophile, Hafez Ashraf Uddin, has been convicted of many historical sexual assaults, having exploited his role as an Islamic teacher in Ipswich.

Hafez Ashraf Uddin, residing on Wivenhoe Road in Barking, London, was convicted of 13 charges of indecent assault at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, 5 June, after a trial that spanned over four weeks.

The charges pertain to six distinct victims, all female and aged between seven and fourteen, occurring from 1985 to 1999.

Hafez Ashraf Uddin faced 22 charges of indecent assault involving seven females, resulting in a conviction for 13 acts and an acquittal for the other nine.

The charges comprised Hafez Ashraf Uddin inserting his hand into one victim’s trousers and multiple instances of either groping or squeezing the girls’ breasts.

He has been convicted on four offences that involve numerous offences, indicating that each charge consists of at least five assaults, resulting in a minimum total of 29 distinct assaults.

Hafez Ashraf Uddin has been remanded in custody pending a sentencing hearing to be held at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday 28 July.

Suffolk Police recognises the impact that this case will have on the community that Hafez Ashraf Uddin served and officers have been liaising with partners to ensure anyone with concerns can access advice and specialist support.
